Home and School Agreement

As part of our partnership policy we have over the last few years developed a partnership statement which sets out the roles and responsibilities of the school, the pupil and parents.  This policy has now been updated to form the basis of our Home School Agreement.  The Government has made it a statutory requirement that all schools in the country have a Home School Agreement. It is felt that this type of agreement will help to foster and strengthen partnership links between home and school.

Etonbury’s Home School Agreement will be located in the pupil’s Day Book.  There is a section for the head teacher, the parent and the child to sign.  This will then be available for reference throughout the year.

We hope that the Home School Agreement will give the opportunity for genuine discussion to be initiated between:

 ·         The school and the pupil

·         The school and parents

·         Parents and their child

We envisage that it will increase the commitment to high standards of behaviour and it will enhance what is already an excellent working environment.

School

The school will try to:-

·         Follow the National Curriculum, endeavoring to provide both balance and challenge.

·         Ensure that your child achieves their full potential as a valued member of the school community.

·         Care for your child’s safety, well-being and happiness.

·         Set high standards of behaviour and notify parents/guardians of any concerns or problems.

·         Contact you if there is a problem with attendance, punctuality or equipment, advising you of our concerns.

·         Keep you regularly informed about general school matters via the Etonbury Echo and letters to parents.

·         Keep you informed about your child’s performance and progress via the Daybook, Parent/Teacher Evenings and the annual written Reports to Parents.

·         Be open, accessible and welcoming at all times, encouraging your involvement in school life.

·         Respond promptly and effectively to your queries or concerns.

·         Set, mark and monitor homework.

Home

As a Parent/Guardian, I/We will try to:-

·         Support the school’s policies and the procedures set out in the Parents’ Handbook.

·         Contact the school about any concerns I may have, or problems, which may affect my child’s work or behaviour.

·         Ensure that my child attends school regularly and on time.

·         Ensure that my child has the correct uniform as set out in the Parents’ Handbook.

·         Advise the school of any absence by telephone and provide a letter of explanation.

·         Support my child in set homework and in other home learning opportunities.

·         Support the school in their efforts to monitor achievement by ensuring my child attends school during key assessments.

·         Use the Daybook for home/school communication and attend Parents’ Evenings to discuss my child’s progress and learn about their life at school.

As a pupil, I will try to:-

·         Take responsibility for my own actions, including getting myself to school regularly, attending lessons on time, correctly dressed and with the necessary equipment required each day.

·         Be polite and behave sensibly with consideration for others on my way to, from and within school.

·         Do all my class work and homework as well as I can.

·         Talk to a member of staff if I have a problem at school.
