Spelling rules.  Use of adverbs.  Introduction to synonyms.  Use of connectives.  Direct speech punctuation and layout.  Verbs tenses, synonyms.  1st and 3rd  person. Use of standard English.  Imperative verbs.  Pluralisation of nouns.  Past, present and future.  Layout of dialogue.  Use of adverbs.  Difference between direct, reported speech and play script.  Diary form and writing.  Need for punctuation, prefixes and pluralisation.

Verb tenses, direct and reported speech, use of punctuation.  Nouns and pronouns, difference between spoken and written language.  Adapting sentences for different audiences, possessive pronouns.  Features of fables.  Metaphorical expressions.  Punctuation in longer sentences.  Reordering and reconstructing sentences, metaphors and Onomatopoeia.  Spelling conventions.  Features of explanatory text.  Antonyms.  Note taking.  Homographs.

Understanding and awareness of how writing can be adapted, borrowed words.  Standard English, Prepositions, Apostrophes, Connectives.  Familiarisation with content, structure and language features typical of persuasive texts.  Features of information text, combining sentences in different ways.  Punctuation within sentences.  Purpose and organisation of dictionaries.  Explore word origins.  Understanding of clauses.  Spelling – ‘i before e’.
